On March 5th, Next Up had the great privilege of being acknowledged by Mayor Tom Tait for our work in the city of Anaheim. We were recognized at the city council meeting and awarded a declaration of commemoration signed by the mayor and members of the city council. Michael Baker of the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim introduced us, and Vina gave a brief speech explaining the story of Next Up and our mission. It was a great privilege to be recognized by the Mayor and awarded this great honor. A big thanks to Mayor Tom Tait and his wife Julie, the Boys and Girls club of Anaheim, Michael Baker, Jessica Knopp and everyone else that helps keep Next Up rolling!

Special Guest Zion Wright

In March 6th, Next Up Anaheim had our youngest special guest to date, Zion Wright from Florida. Zion is only 14 years old, which means he’s young enough to be one of our program’s members. However, he came out and skated about as good as any pro guest we have had! The kids had an awesome time watching Zion skate and skating with him as well. A big thanks to Zion for coming out and supporting Next Up, we will see you again soon friend!

I decided give myself a nice treatment after working so hard at Laventina’s pizza and volunteering my time to Next Up Foundation for 3 consecutive years. I went to Barcelona and had the time of my life! Unfortunately I couldn’t film much however my friend Aron Marcel did this little 10 tricks editing for me. Note: I’m not here to push the level of skateboarding. I’m just doing what I love! Thank you guys! Next Up!

Special Guest Expedition One II

On February 6th, Next Up Santa Ana was honored to have the Expedition One team return for a second visit, with even more guys than before! Ryan Gallant, Matt Miller, Taylor McClung, Chany Jeanguin, Kelly Hart and Kenny Hoyle all came out, and in between skating all over the park, the guys hung out with the kids, helped teach them how to skate, and showed them an awesome time. Afterwards they gave out a bunch of shirts, stickers, and boards, and even got some basketball ball in before finally calling it a day. A huge thanks to all the guys that came out, as well as Matt Daughters and everyone at Expedition One and Kayo, and also Jake from Caught You Ripping for coming out as well!

STATE of the CITY – ANAHEIM 2013

On February 5th, Next Up foundation had the great privilege of being recognized by the city of Anaheim at Mayor Tom Tait and the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce’s State of the City event at the Grove of Anaheim. The event featured a speech from Mayor Tait regarding the events of 2012 in Anaheim, as well as the plans for 2013 and the future of the city. The attendees were served a delicious meal, and a video was also shown highlighting positive community programs in the Anaheim area. The video was accompanied by a beautiful performance from the Symphony of Anaheim, and Next Up was honored to be featured and acknowledged for serving this great community! A big thanks to Mayor Tait, Julie Tait, the city of Anaheim, Michael Baker and Jessica Knopp at the Boys & Girls Club for all of your support of Next Up!
